Will sugar make me fat?

Ah, so many sugar questions this month! In a word, yes! You may not know that refined sugar did not exist in our evolutionary period, and eating it poses an increased risk for negative health effects. There is very good evidence that sugar is bad for humans when eaten in certain quantities and in certain forms—and those quantities are radically smaller than you would believe or that you are likely eating.

For optimal health you should cut out all refined sugars, which includes fruit juice, fruit concentrate, honey, agave, all syrups, sucrose crystals and dextrose. It also includes all grains and carbohydrate-dense plant matter such as quinoa. See the work of Gary Taubes and Robert Lustig for a sample of this research. In the meantime, dump the sugar and eat more fibrous carbs for your energy sources.
